The free OCR uses a proven open-source engine (Tesseract) compiled to WebAssembly, so recognition happens locally — unlimited, free, and private by design. It handles printed documents, screenshots and clean scans, and you can copy the result or download all recognized text as a single .txt file. Process a whole batch at once: each image gets its own section in the results.
For hard cases — handwriting, skewed photos of documents, tables — switch to “AI OCR” in the same menu (1 credit per image). It uses a vision language model that reads what classic OCR can't, and keeps table layout in plain text.
